Contest Winners!

I would like Adam and Mark to share this win, since they were the ONLY TWO to let us know that they have done some sort of community service. (Sorry, Drew.) So maybe we can work out an arrangement where one gets it for one month, then the other gets it for a month. Since Adam answered first, I will send it to him as long as he promises to send it to Mark after a month. Adam, I believe I have your address, so I'll get it out tomorrow. Congratulations, and please, keep up the good work in the community.

Perhaps the reason you didn't get a lot of people mentioning what they did to help the community is a lot of people don't like to broadcast that. I know I'm squeamish about that.

I'm with Night Owl as I am sure many people are (or at least, I hope that's the case).

I would hope so, too, but this is not something to be embarrassed about. It is something to be proud of, and would encourage others to do the same.

I waffled on whether or not to post. At first, I wasn't comfortable with it. I don't like to honk my own horn. But the work that I do is nothing that I am ashamed of. On the contrary, I'm proud of it. Not in a boastful sort of way, but the work is good.

Thanks, Dan, for offering the card and the unique method for 'winning' it.

I think it's all in how you view community service. I know I am basically expected to "itemize" all the community service I do as part of my year-end reviews while working at a college...and each year that makes me a bit uncomfortable since I cannot help but feel that the "service" part has been compromised slightly (even though it hasn't since what I do I would have done regardless of employment expectations).

I didn't post to be bragging about anything good that I do. I used to be squemish about it like Night Owl. But since only 30% of our operating costs come from player registrations and 70% come from donations I lost my squimishness out of necessity. You can't get donations without broadcasting what you are doing.

Oh yeah, one more thing. I have a fake T206 that I will pass along with the real thing so that everyone who receives the real one, in the future, can compare it to the fake and hopefully learn how to tell the differance between real and fake T206s.

Congrats! You'll really dig the card. Thanks for the work you're doing in your community.

And thanks to Dan for the great contest!
