The Magnificent Seven

I'm not above stealing. Well, stealing great ideas from others, and using them for my benefit, as long as I credit them with the idea.

So, here's to The Collective Troll, who had this idea in order to track down his top seven cards that he needs for his collection and has been searching for over a long period of time. I helped The Troll with two of his Top 7 cards, so I figured that there are others out there willing to help me. Everyone who helps will receive some cards from the team of their choice or a few cards that they may need. We can work something out, I'm sure.

1. 2008 Topps Stars #TS1 Alex Rodriguez

Not that I like A-Rod, but I need this to finish the 2008 set, aside from the short prints. And the 50th Anniversary All-Stars. And the Year in Review cards. Oh, yeah, and the Historical Campaign Matchups and First Couples. Oh, what the heck, I need most of the inserts, so throw them in the package too!

2. 2007 SP Authentic #80 Alex Rodriguez

Not that I like. . . shoot. Another A-Rod I need. I hate saying that. But some people out there (you know who you are, I'm looking at YOU!) are hoarding the A-Rod cards, hiding them until he is exonerated and his card values go back up.

3. 2009 Topps Turkey Red #TR53 Francisco Rodriguez

Holy Shitake Mushrooms! What is it with guys named Rodriguez? They are avoiding me like the plague!

4. 2009 Topps Heritage #270 Chien-Ming Wang

Finally. A Guy Not Named Rodriguez. Just a simple card to finish the non-short-print set.

5. 2008 Topps Heritage Dick Perez #HDP7 Mickey Mantle

OK. This one will be tough, as it is The Mick, and draws good interest on eBay. But someone out there must have a double of it, and will be richly rewarded in their next life for such generous acts of kindness. C'mon, we all need some good karma!

6. 1987 Donruss #36 Greg Maddux RC and #361 Barry Bonds RC

OK, so I'm being a bit greedy. You can't blame a guy for trying. But, Hey, these cards were drastically overproduced and should be easy to finish. So why am I having so much trouble? Probably the same guys hoarding the A-Rods are the ones hoarding the Bonds. And Maddux? Well, I can't figure that one out. I'll get back to you on that.

7. 2000 Bowman Draft Grady Sizemore Rookie Autograph.

Yeah, I know, I'm dreaming, but if anyone has the non-auto version that they are dying to get rid of, I would be willing to trade something very nice for this.

I know I can help you out with the '87 Maddux, maybe the Bonds as well. The in-laws have me removing tree stumps, so I'll get back you tonight with what I've got.

If you pulled any Ginter Crawfords, Prices, or other Rays as doubles I'll totally take them off your hands!

I often go to eBay to look at the Sizemore auto. The cost ranges from the slightly ridiculous ($150) to the ridiculous ridiculous ($750).

One day, I will own that card.

And then my wife will leave me for spending so much on a piece of cardboard.
