No, I'm not referring to another comeback for Minnie Minoso, or some of my favorite TV shows like Little Rascals, Speed Racer or Johnny Socko (look it up!), but an old fave that I saw in the grocery store yesterday for the first time in thirty years:
Holy Shitake Mushrooms!!! I remember these so well, and every once in a while when I get nostalgic and reminisce, I think about Quisp and Quake cereals, Spaghetti-O's, Sloppy Joes, an entire Mickey D's meal for a dollar or two (and NO HAPPY MEALS!), Red Barn, Higbees in downtown where you would get a chocolate shake just before getting on the Rapid to go back home (only Clevelanders would understand this one), and popcorn balls. Ah, the good old days.
Man, that's scary that I'm old enough to say that.
What reminded me about that was this article over at Wrigley Wax about begging Mom to get you a cereal just so that you could get the prize inside, such as the 3-D baseball cards that he discusses. I remember doing that quite often, though I don't remember throwing fits about it, although I'm sure I did.

Whoa. Major nostalgia rush.
Not as intense as when Thorzul posted about Freakies cereal (do remember that?), but I do remember Quisp. I don't think I ever ate any though.
I worked with Quisp at a camp once. We all had "camp" names and it was his favorite cereal so that became his camp name.
I LOVE Quisp! ... and King Vitamin!
Weren't there three cereals in the Quisp line: Quisp, Quake, and was the third one King Vitamin?
Originally, I think there were just the two. King Vitamin came along later.
Remember the commercials? They were produced by Jay Ward- of Rocky and Bullwinkle fame. GREAT stuff!
