Another year, another Cy Young

This is becoming habitual. For the second year in a row, a Cleveland Indian has won the American League Cy Young Award. Cliff Lee won today after posting an amazing 22-3 record with a 2.54 ERA and a WHIP of 1.11. Pretty great after going 5-8 with a 6.29 ERA the year before, including a demotion to the minors. What a turnaround. I hope that in ten years they don't find out he did it with steroids or by doping.

In any event, this award comes one year after C.C. Sabathia won it as the ace of the Cleveland Indians pitching staff. Too bad they couldn't afford to keep him. If they could, they would have a formidable rotation going into next year, with Fausto Carmona and Cliff Lee at the head of the rotation, and a promising Jeremy Sowers and some good arms coming up through the farm system. Let's all hope that the Indians don't trade a second Cy Young winner in two consecutive years. That would jinx the Tribe for another 54 years!

Congrats, Cliff!
